W. Scott Miller Lovett Miller & Co.
Mr. W. Scott Miller has made private equity investments in the following 15 companies which have generated attractive realized returns for the investors: Employease, Inc.; 360Commerce, Inc.; Proxima Therapeutics, Inc.; Key-Trak, Inc.; GO Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPNW); TowerCom Development, LP; Southcoast-Boca Associates; Centennial Healthcare Corporation (NASDAQ: CTEN); United Dental Care, Inc. (NASDAQ: UDCI); TowerCom Limited; PowerTel, Inc. (NASDAQ: PTEL); Community Bank Capital Corportation (NYSE: SNV); Cybex Computer Products Corporation (NASDAQ: CBXC); K&G Men's Centers, Inc. (NASDAQ: MENS); and Southeast Health Plan, Inc. Mr. Miller currently monitors investments in and serves as an advisor to Innosource, Inc.; MED3000, Inc.; PeopleClick, Inc; and Telovations, Inc.
Mr. Miller is a member of the Florida Chapter of Young President’s Organization and the CEO Council of Tampa Bay. He is a board member of the Tampa Bay Technology Forum, where he acts as Chairman of the Capital Acquisition Committee, and the Florida Venture Forum; and has served as a judge multiple times for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Mr. Miller is the principal donor of the Susan Miller Selden Award and Scholarship at the University of the South and the W. Scott Miller Dolphin Scholarship, an academic scholarship, which benefits the children of US Navy submarine officers and servicemen.
In addition to his service to the community, Mr. Miller often acts as a source for and is frequently quoted regarding the venture capital industry by such publications as the Florida Trend, the St. Petersburg Times, and The Tampa Tribune. Upside Magazine, a leading magazine for the software industry, featured Mr. Miller on the Southern regional cover of its exposeŽ on venture capital in America.
Prior to co-founding Lovett Miller & Co., Mr. Miller served as a General Partner of South Atlantic Venture Partners II, Limited Partnership and South Atlantic Venture Partners III, Limited Partnership. The South Atlantic Venture Funds invested in such noteworthy growth companies as Outback Steakhouse, Inc.; PowerTel, Inc.; Regal Cinemas, Inc.; and Telecom*USA. Prior to entering the private equity business, Mr. Miller worked as an associate in Investment Banking at Bowles Hollowell Conner & Co. in Charlotte, NC, and as a summer associate at Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated in New York City. Mr. Miller worked in sales and marketing for BellSouth Corporation prior to attending graduate school.
Mr. Miller earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with honors and distinction from the University of the South where he received the Phillip Evans Award for the Outstanding Economics Graduate, the Atlee Henkel Hoff Scholarship, and the Eugene M. Kayden Scholarship. He also was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Epsilon. Mr. Miller was a varsity letterman on the University of the South football team. Mr. Miller received a Master of Business Administration degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration where he was awarded a Little Family Foundation Fellowship. Mr. Miller is an Eagle Scout.
