“I
am a brand, I can build and foster value, I can give back to my community and
those that have helped me. I am an entrepreneur. What a simple,
elegant and powerful statement – both a destination and a goal. Having
completed both the certificate program and MS in Entrepreneurship, I am
persistently aware of the impact that entrepreneurs create for their
communities.
Now that I am among the ranks of these entrepreneurial leaders, I will always
have the Center for Entrepreneurship to thank for my life’s mission.” –
Daniel James Scott
“ …the Center for Entrepreneurship has provided me with a unique,
unprecedented learning experience and set of skills that I feel
confident will translate into real world achievement. I would
encourage all individuals interested in anything from global
corporate strategy and intellectual property portfolio management to
business planning and small venture startup to either take electives
or fully enroll in the program.” - Shaun Bolger
Class of 2007
"The
Entrepreneurship program, with all of the real-life projects that are a
part of the classes, has given me the unique skills and experiences
necessary to run an organization such as,
Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE).
I literally put into practice what I learned in the classroom by
implementing different programs and projects with SIFE."

lr: William Marshall, Jr., Daniel Scott, David Vondenberger. First three
graduates of the new MS Degree in Entrepreneurship! (2006)
"The Master’s in Entrepreneurship for
Applied Technologies is an outstanding program. It develops fundamentals
and critical skills in Leadership and Inter-disciplinary Team Building &
Team Management, and provides opportunities for consolidation and
application of advanced business skills focused in venture formation,
development, and management in the framework of interdisciplinary team
projects. In addition, it provides instruction and experience in areas
not commonly covered in business, science, and engineering curricula
such as Intellectual Property and FDA Regulatory Compliance. I would
highly recommend this program for all business students, and most, if
not all, Engineering, Science, and Medical students." - William G.
Marshall, Jr., MD, MS, MBA, MSEAT
"The format of this award-winning program provides a realistic preview
of entrepreneurship across various fields – an insight that cannot be
found in a textbook or classroom. The opportunity to learn from
distinguished and experienced entrepreneurial faculty, business leaders,
concept generators and seasoned entrepreneurs is a highlight of this
program. The program successfully teaches students to apply their
knowledge in business, life sciences, engineering, and other fields to
create value in new and existing ventures. I have witnessed the goals of
my peers change considerably during our tenure in the program – quite
frankly, the USF Center for Entrepreneurship has had a drastic impact on
the professional and civic aspirations for most of the program
participants. The degree offers practical training in all aspects of
entrepreneurship – from business plan development and new venture
formation, through market and technological assessment, to financing
strategies, technology transfer, execution and sustainability.
I am proud to be associated with the USF Center for Entrepreneurship and
be a graduate of the Master’s of Science in Entrepreneurship in Applied
Technologies." - David K. Vondenberger, M.S., M.B.A.
"Why is the USF MS in Entrepreneurship? Technical programs such as
engineering, medicine and the like provide you with the knowledge to
innovate. The business program provides you the skills to manage an
existing firm. The MSE program provides you the toolkit to lead an
innovative company from formation to successful exit – utilizing
multidisciplinary teamwork, instructor-mediated projects and case study
analysis, and access to, and hands-on interaction with, such
practitioners as business leaders, consultants, Venture Capalists,
lenders, engineers, MDs, and researchers. The MSE program prepares both
future and current entrepreneurial leaders to guide their respective
firms through market assessment, business planning, protecting
intellectual property, navigating government regulations, debt and
equity financing, and strategic growth. There is no question that the
MSE program has improved my leadership abilities and technical skill. I
highly recommend the program, the staff, and the faculty to anyone
considering the opportunity to improve their entrepreneurial toolkit." -
Daniel James Scott, MS, MBA |
"I received my Bachelor’s degree from USF Majoring in
Management and Minoring in Economics. It was through USF that I was
recruited for my first full-time position immediately following my
Bachelor’s. I simultaneously pursued my MBA with concentrations in
Finance, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship. While pursuing my MBA, I
quickly realized that the Entrepreneurship track appealed to me much
more than any of the other tracks or specializations. Near the end
of my MBA the Entrepreneurship track was expanded to include a whole
degree (MSE). Whilst the decision to pursue another Masters would
normally not have crossed my mind, I knew that this was the right
decision.
The MBA taught me a lot of tools, but it might as well have been an
undergrad degree in comparison to the richness of the experience of
the MSE. The MSE was filled with high quality students and
professors that both emphasized and participated in real world
projects and experience. I can count several executives in the
greater Tampa Bay area that I have directly worked with the MSE.
The projects that my groups ended up turning in were several
magnitudes more significant than any other academic project that I
had done. Furthermore, the make-up of the groups was significant; I
have worked with lawyers, medical students, doctors, engineers,
MBAs, MHAs, MPHs, and the list goes on. The depth of knowledge
required to graduate is difficult to obtain if one is unwilling to
work with a team and to participate in the development of others
skills which in turn enriches your own. The projects in this degree
have also helped to hone my confidence and presentation skills.
This has directly translated to real world results.
The projects are not the only thing that focuses on translating
academic knowledge in to real world skill. The professors work
extremely hard to continuously bring in incredible nonacademic
speakers. These speakers help to engage the theoretical concepts
and show real world applications and examples.
The Spanish have a saying Saber es Poder, also known as,
Knowledge is Power. I postulate that academic knowledge is
powerful in academic settings, but can be difficult to distill into
something useable. This transformation occurs in this program. The
fact that this program continues to win national awards yearly
clearly identifies that USF is on the right track. Highly enjoyed
it. Highly recommend it." -
